What is it?
Strength should be a vital component of any fitness program. But you don’t need to lifting mega heavy weights to get benefit. We don’t have machines at our studio so we use free weights such as kettle bells, dumbbells, sand bags, medicine balls, plus good old fashioned body weight – it all counts!
Why should I do it?
Strength training offers numerous benefits that go beyond building muscle. It enhances overall physical performance by increasing power, endurance, and stability. Regular strength work helps boost metabolism, leading to better weight management and fat loss. It also improves bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis, and strengthens connective tissues, lowering the chance of injuries. Moreover, strength training supports mental well-being by reducing stress and anxiety, while promoting a sense of accomplishment and confidence.
What can I expect?
We change our class structure from week to week. Sometimes we work individually, other times in teams of 2 or 3 and then circuits! To challenge stability we use bosus and bungees and flexi discs for added spice!

Strength and Stability Gold
This is a dedicated class for the Older adult with a focus on strength and balance. There is no floor work, all standing, and we also use the barre to help with the wobbles. When the class is small we use the Pilates machines too (reformer, chair and springboard).
