Why should I do it?
These classical pieces of equipment can take your Pilates practise to the next level.
Equipment Pilates provides a dynamic and targeted approach to strengthening and conditioning the body. The adjustable resistance and support offered by these machines allow for greater precision and control, making it ideal for building core strength, improving flexibility, and enhancing muscle tone without placing undue stress on the joints. For women over 40, equipment Pilates is especially beneficial as it helps address common issues like decreased bone density, reduced balance, and muscle imbalances, while also promoting mental focus and overall well-being.
What is a Wunda Chair?
The Wunda Chair, also known as the Pilates Chair, is a piece of exercise equipment originally designed by Joseph Pilates. It looks like a small chair but has a pedal attached by springs that provide resistance. The Wunda Chair is used for a variety of exercises to strengthen and tone the muscles, improve balance, and enhance overall body control and flexibility. It’s a versatile tool that can be used for both seated and standing exercises, and it’s particularly effective for targeting the core, legs, and upper body.
What is a reformer?
The Pilates reformer is a versatile exercise machine designed to enhance strength, flexibility, and alignment. It features a flat platform called a carriage that moves along rails, with adjustable springs to provide varying levels of resistance. Equipped with straps, pulleys, and a footbar, the reformer allows for a wide range of exercises targeting the entire body. It’s particularly effective in improving core strength, posture, and joint mobility, making it popular for rehabilitation, fitness training, and low-impact conditioning.
What should I expect?
It is usually a circuit style class where each participant will spend around 15-20 minutess per machine. Depending on contraindications to exercise, you may repeat the same exercises or have them tailored to your requirements and / or fitness ability.
