What is it?
Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that focuses on strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall body awareness, which are suitable for all fitness levels. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, it emphasizes core strength, alignment, breath control, and smooth, controlled movements.
At Simply Fitness we have a number of Pilates classes to strengthen you from the inside out.
Why should do it?
Some key benefits of Pilates include improved posture, increased flexibility, better balance, and enhanced mind-body-breath connection. It is often used to strengthen the lower back which can help with injury rehabilitation and also prevention. When we are strong on the inside we are stronger on the outside.
What should I expect?
All of our Pilates classes are curated to progressively build strength and conditioning throughout the whole body. The classes aim to restore balance and alignment whilst increasing flexibility in the joints.
Mat Pilates
The classic. A mat based class that blends core strengthening exercises and all over body conditioning undertaken with control and considered movement. Soft balls, bricks and bands are often used to enhance and progress the workouts.
